Ozone layer : 

 Ozone layer is the outer protective covering of the Earth. It is the region in the Earth's stratosphere with high concentration of ozone and protects the Earth from harmful UV rays of the sun.

Depletion of Ozone layer : 

Depletion of the ozone layer means the thing of the layer in the upper atmosphere caused due to release of harmful chemicals like chlorine or bromine due to human activities. Depletion of the ozone is a main concern because this  depletion will result in the direct  entry  of harmful UV rays which can cause diseases like skin cancer in organisms.
